“Conception is one of the biggest miracles in your life. It is a miracle that is full of surprise happiness, a miracle that changes your life
forever, and a miracle that is given by the nature. You cannot make the miracle happen, but only expect it from happening. When the miracle comes to you, it will be a gift.”
Chapter 5 - THE MIRACLE OF CONCEPTION
Conception is a miracle when considering the chance of a sperm to
choose an ovum to penetrate into it successfully, and a well prepared
conception is one of the key factors of developing healthy and intelligent
baby.
Human conception or fertilization is the process of the fusion of a sperm and an
ovum, and it will eventually lead to formation of an embryo, which occurs within the
body of a woman internally. It is also called pregnancy once the embryo is formed,
and the process can be prepared carefully and professionally to ensure that the baby
born in high qualities of health and intelligence.
Many factors may have impact on embryo development in the body of the
prospective mother, like age, health, lifestyle, intelligence, medical conditions and
medications, and so on. Some of the factors and conditions are out of our controls,
but lots of them are controllable and modifiable by prospective parents. If we pay
more attentions to those conditions, we may have higher chances to have a baby
with higher intelligence.
5.1 - Learn the most suitable period (ovulation & conception)
One of the controllable conditions is the timing and frequency of intercourse that
results in conception, and a well-designed timing can change the qualities of the
baby. Firstly, the day of the potential mother’s menstrual cycle will decide the time
point that when the pregnancy will happen. Secondly, the length of the possible fertile period will depend on the maximum life span of sperm from the potential
father and ovum or egg from you.
Let’s learn a bit more about ovum first. The availabilities of ova are much limited
compared to sperm, and totally about 450,000 ova in ovaries are born with any baby
girl, which means that the formation of ova starts even before the born of baby girls.
During the adulthood, each woman releases about 400 ova totally in her fertile ages,
typically only one ovum per month. This begins from the first menstrual period of life,
and it ends when menopause comes around 45 to 55 years old. When women are
getting older, the numbers of ova in both ovaries are dying and getting lower in
numbers. And they mostly disappear after menopause period.
During the middle time of your menstrual period, one to three ova will be getting
matured in your ovaries, but only the most mature ovum will be released and will be
quickly collected by the oviduct for better protection and conception. The rest of less
mature ova will disappear gradually. This process is called ovulation. The exact day of
your ovulation depends on the length of your menstrual cycle. And all of the events
are under controls of several hormones in your body.
Calculatedly, the standard length of a fertile period is the first 13 to 15 days counting
from the first day of your last menstrual period, because your ovulation normally
occurs about 14 days from the first day of your period, and eggs normally survive
only for one day. Considering sperm surviving for six days maximum, even though
the maximum survival time reported as nine days, but the time with better
penetrating potency is five days, your best fertile period is about six days, between
day 10 to 15 counting from the first day of your menstrual cycle.
If you want to ensure higher qualities of embryo, you may want to limit your
intercourse for pregnant purpose to the first three days within the six days of fertile
period, as they are the most suitable period for fertilization. Even though you may be
pregnant if you have intercourse during the six days technically, the chance of
pregnancy is much higher in the first three days, according to a survey of 119,398
women showing that 94% of them were pregnant from intercourses during the first
three days of their fertile period. And thus the period of the best three days is named
as “fertility window.”
Can we know exactly when the ovulation will happen? The answer is yes. There are
ways to measure your regular ovulation day, like measuring body temperature by
different commercially available devices. If you do this a couple of months before
your planned month of pregnancy, it is not difficult to know about your accurate
ovulation day monthly. And the best three days of intercourse is counted from the
two previous day before your ovulation day, and plus the ovulation day itself. This is
because your egg survives only for one day, and your partner’s sperm survive for
about five days. And thus if you accept the sperm two days ahead of the ovulation
day, you will ensure the chance of your egg to meet the sperm. It happens that the
ovulation day may be postponed for a few days, but in this way, you will be still fine
since the life span of sperm is five days maximum with best penetrating potency.
Besides the handling of the fertility window of fertile period, the frequency of
intercourse’s during these days is considered important for the purpose of making
baby with higher qualities. You may want to maintain the normal intercourse
frequency during the fertility window, and may want to increase the frequency if both
of you want to. The increase of frequency may also increase the chance of pregnancy
to ensure fertilization in these days, because frequent supplies of fresh and good
quality of sperms will increase the chance of the fusion of your egg and his sperm
under the best condition.
There were some reports about decrease of intercourse frequency to increase sperm
qualities during the fertility window. But further studies did not confirm the
speculation, and if your partner is healthy and strong, there is no need to reduce
intercourse frequency. Instead, increasing the intercourse frequency may increase
the chance of conception, as shown by other reports. And thus each additional
intercourse enjoyed by both of you in the fertility window will simply increase your
chance of pregnancy.
You may want to learn how to predict the best three days in the fertility window of
your fertile period prospectively. Identification of your fertility window in advance will
assist your pregnancy plan, and you may start practicing at least 3 – 5 months
before your target month. The most popular way of ovulation prediction is by
measuring your body temperature, because your temperature will increase obviously
during the ovulation.
You may simply order a sensitive thermometer for measuring
under-arm temperature from Walmart or any other retail store, or from online, and
start measuring your body temperature daily from the day after your menstrual
period ends. The best time to measure body temperature is in the morning, right
after getting up, without doing anything else, because any other activities may
increase your temperature and change the result of measurement without reflecting
your real basic body temperature. Here is a chart form that you may use to record
the measurement results of your daily body temperature.
Chart of Prospective Prediction of Ovulation (Template)
Tem: body temperature measured.
Ovu:
ovulation day, the day with highest body temperature.
Another way to detect your ovulation day is by using the detection of the surge day
of your luteinizing hormone (LH), which is considered more accurate and stable. Body
temperature may be affected by many other reasons, like infections as flu or cold, extra activities, and so on, but hormone level tends to be more stable. Your
luteinizing hormone will increase during the ovulation in your urine, and thus can be
detected and used as an indicator of your ovulation day. There are many different
kits called either LH detection kit or ovulation detection kit available in the market,
and you may choose one that fits your need. The detection of LH in urine will be
more accurate and reliable comparing to body temperature measurement, but the
cost will be a little higher, and the procedure will be less simple. You may choose
either of them based on your comparison and experience.
Once you learn about your optimized best three day period, you will want to have
sexual intercourse from two days before your ovulation day, and include your
ovulation day, as mentioned above, since your partner’s sperms survive for at least
five days. You don’t need to worry if you find out that your ovulation day is not
accurately the same day after your last day of menstrual period each month, in this
case, you can choose the earliest day possible as your ovulation day, and start
intercourse two days ahead. The five days of survival of sperms will help you to get
higher chances of fertilization.
You may also want to learn from your previous trials of fertilization even though you
did not get pregnant, and you can calculate those days as the relationship between
intercourse days and ovulation day retrospectively, to increase your chance of
fertilization in the next planed month. The retrospective chart will also help you to be
surer about your ovulation day. It will enrich your experiences about the relationship
between ovulation, intercourse and pregnancy, and help you to increase your chance
of pregnancy next time.
The method is simple and easy. In the following chart, you will make sure that you
know the date of your ovulation, and the date of the three days ahead of your
ovulation day. After you have these dates, you mark the chart with an “X” when the
day you have intercourse, to see if your guys have done a good job following the
method described in this ebook. If so, you simply repeat what you have done
continually until you get pregnant; if not, you need to correct any miscalculation or
misunderstanding that you may have to increase your chances of fertilization.

After you learn from the chart that you have not done well enough, you need to try
harder to be pregnant with a baby with higher intelligent qualities. But if you are sure that you have done well, and it is longer than 3 – 6 months, this chart will remind
you that you need to seek for medical helps from your gynecologist.
5.2 - Process of Conception
The process of conception is not too complicated. A sperm carrying your partner’s
chromosome DNA will meet your ovum carrying your chromosome DNA in the lower
abdominal cavity and near the end of the oviducts or fallopian tubes. If a sperm
penetrates into the ovum successfully, it is called conception or fertilization, and
normally only one lucky sperm get into ovum successfully. When fertilization is
finished, the penetrated ovum is called fertilized ovum or egg, which has the
combination of both parents’ DNA, and will keep growing to develop a baby.
Even though only one sperm is needed for conception, about 200 ~ 600 million of
sperm cells are released from each ejaculation. Spermatogenesis begins at 12 ~ 13
years of age, and hundred million of sperm cells are produced per day normally from
healthy adult male. The complete production of sperm takes 74 hours in adult male,
and since only one sperm is needed normally for fertilization, most of sperms will be
eliminated.
Female reproductive tract is not friendly for most of sperms, and almost all of them
will be removed by the acidic environment with anti-sperm antibodies. Only the
strongest sperm that can stand all of the harsh environmental factors with
penetrative potency can reach the center of the egg successfully and finish the
conception. This natural selective process ensures the qualities of the fertilization and
the baby, and the production and ejaculation of millions of sperm cells is for defeating
the conception difficulties.
Many natural and man-made factors can have impact on numbers and qualities of
sperm, and can inhibit the qualities and quantities of sperm cell production. The most
common factors include stress, exhaustion, age, depression, and medical conditions.
The diminished qualities and quantities of sperm cells include fewer amounts of
sperm, more defective sperm, and weaker moving capabilities such as moving randomly instead of in a straight line, as a sperm moving in a straight line has a
much higher chance of penetrating an egg.
During sexual intercourse and ejaculation, the time that sperm takes to reach the
upper ends of oviducts where fertilization takes place is about five minutes. During
the five minutes, only a few hundreds of sperm cells out of several hundred millions
can pass through the cervix and the uterus. Among them, only 100 can reach the
upper end of oviducts successfully to join the competition of ovum penetrating.
Gynecologic scientists were wondering what the driving force that push sperm
towards the upper end of the oviducts is, and they found that the driving force is
actually the heat sensing function of sperm cells. Since the temperature of the upper
ends is about two degrees Celsius higher than the lower ends of the oviducts, sperm
is attracted by the higher temperature to reach where the conception occurs. Another
possible attraction is some chemicals secreted by ovum that may also attract sperm.
Those sperm cells that finally lose their chances to penetrate ovum are either
genetically defective or motility defective, and will be eliminated.
Human conception will have to occur within one day since the ovum only survives for
24 hours. This means that effective intercourse should happen either three days
before the ovulation or one day after the ovulation, since sperm cells last for five
days. After that, the ovum develops to secondary oocytes that take 4 days to travel
through the oviducts to reach the uterus, where the oocytes will finish implantation
on the posterior wall of the uterus, and keep developing to embryo and then baby.
In non-human mammals like wild animals, ovulation only happens in certain time of
each year, which results in a mating season that is commonly seen in wildness. But
this will not be the case in human and other non-human primates, because sexual
behaviors are not closely related to ovulation in them but more to emotional factors,
and thus there is no mating season in primates. But we have to keep in mind that the
best chance to have high quality of conception is the ovulation time, and it is not
necessary the time that anyone has higher desire of sexual behavior.

Each of us was the grand prize in an ultimate reality competition, the amazing race a sperm makes on the road
to fertilization. In each epic battle, millions of sperm compete while overcoming armies of antibodies. Within 30 minutes of ejaculation, over 99 percent of the sperm will be dead or dying. But
for those that remain it will be a vicious 14-hour fight to the end, with only one CHAMPION. |
|
5.3 - The “Olympic Champion”
Do you want to have a highly successful child? This section will prepare you well for
this purpose. The “Olympic Champion” child ideas come from a basic concept that an
athlete winner of a national game of the US, such as pentathlon, will be in better
qualities compared to a winner of a state game like Pennsylvania State alone,
because the US winner is selected out of its populations of 300 million compared to
the State of Pennsylvania’s 12 million populations. Similarly, an Olympic champion
should be considered as a top athlete in a specific sport field of the whole world.
The solo sperm cell winner is comparable to the "Olympic Champion" of pentathlon,
because the Olympic pentathlon is a sport that comprises five events: fencing, 200 m
freestyle swimming, show jumping, a combined event of pistol shooting, and a
3200m cross-country running. Similar to the Olympic pentathlon champion, sperm
cell must be the faster one to run and swim, the stronger one to beat other cells, and
also the smarter one to survive the attack from the acidic environment with antisperm
antibodies.
There are actually different types of sperm cells, and each sperm cell is different from
others. There are bigger and smaller sizes, one or two tails styles, and faster and
slower cells. Among these varieties of shapes and qualities, the solo winner of sperm
cells must be the healthiest, the fastest, and the strongest masculine cell.
You may hope that your baby will be a winning athlete, a successful engineer, or an
awarded scientist, and so on. We will use the words of Olympic champion as a
representation of all of these hopes. It is a common sense that all of parents hope
that their children will be at least kind of successful in their personal lives and work
careers. We will learn how to manage this while working on conception.
One of the examples is that when you know about your best time of conception and
your fertility window of the best three days, you may want to keep your partner’s
sperm in maximum numbers and best conditions. One thing you can do to make sure
of this is that you and your partner can hold your sex for a couple of days, or say
sex-free for several days, or even several weeks if your hope is higher and stronger,
right before your fertility window. The sex-on-hold idea is that your partner can
preserve his sperm cells as better qualities as possible, and as many as possible,
until the right time window comes.
It is not a good idea to have sex regularly before your fertility window. It is obvious
that 800 million sperm cells with better qualities will be much better than 50 million
sperm cells with less better qualities, for a goal to have an Olympic champion. This
actually means that a race winner selected out of 800 million cells would be simply
better than the one selected from just 50 million cells, and the answer is quite clear.
A well-known show by the National Geographic Channel called “Sizing Up Sperm”
released on March 2011, a contributions of both biology experts and athleticism as a
sex education material, walks us through the dramatic journey of 250 million sperm
cells. By using the London skyscraper to represent the testicle, and using the North
American Rockies to represent the female anatomy, within 30 minutes of ejaculation,
more than 99% of sperm cells are dead right after they enter the female organ. For
the rest of 1% of sperm cells, they will have to take 14 hours of fight and harsh
journey in order to reach the goal – the ovum, with only one champion at the end of
competition.
On their journey, when sperm cells are sized up as human size and every other
things are also sized up accordingly, sperm cells landing in female’s vagina looks like
T-storm on a beach, simply facing acid attack like chemical weapons to millions of
unknown invaders. Very little survivors will be able to climb a one mile tall ladder into
the sky – the cervix hanging right above them, and only a few cells will get up there
due to gravity effects. What next? It will be a two miles long journey inside the
uterus with tiny branching traps that crush and kill sperm. Before the winners may
see the ovum, there are thousands of white blood cells and antibodies waiting to
eliminate the trespassing sperm. Finally, only one Olympic freestyle swimming
champion will gain immortality, and all of the rest cells are killed completely.
Now you understand how important it is to keep your partner’s sperm in the best
condition and maximum number possible. There are actually plenty of things that you
and your partner can do. As a prospective father and mother hoping for a healthy
and intelligent baby, you and your partner must give up alcohol, smoking, junk foods,
and any other habits that may harm your baby for at least 90 days, before your time
point of the fertility window. This is important and necessary because it takes three
whole months for sperm to mature to the state that they are capable of fertilizing an
egg, to guarantee that not only for a best sperm cell count, but also for the best
qualities of his spermatozoa.
Taking in consideration of all of these facts, a well-planned conception will result in a
baby with higher intelligence quotient (IQ) when compared with a casual and
unplanned conception. Your family doctor or physician will not necessarily tell
you about these points because these are not their jobs, or are not within
their professional field. Medical doctors, including gynecologists, do not learn
anything of these in their medical school years, because the main purposes of
medical school training are for fighting health problems and diseases, but not for
training of assisting parents to have healthy babies with higher IQ!
As a matter of fact, men would rarely want to go see any physician to discuss about
conception, and they simply just won’t. Your ideas and helps to your man could be
the only chance that your partner may be able to learn about the knowledge.
5.4 - Prince or Princess?
During the conception, there is 50% of chance that the sex of babies will be boys,
and the other 50% of chance will be girls, since half of sperm cells will carry the Ychromosome
that will yield boys and half of them carry X-chromosome that will yield
girls. But due to the fact that other factors than genetic can also have impact on
baby sex, the actual sex ratio of newborns are different that boy to girl ratio is 105-110 to 100, which means that we will have a little bit more boys than girls.
Is there a way to choose to have a boy or a girl when you are trying to be pregnant?
Well, many online articles claim that it is possible, but there is no scientific evidence
that proves it yet. For example, some online suggestions said that it will be girls
when the intercourse happens away from the ovulation day, and it will be boys when
it is closer to the ovulation day. These suggestions are based on the fact that sperm
with Y chromosome or male sperm cells are fragile with shorter life, but swim faster
than sperm with X chromosome or female sperm.
Even when high-tech is used for sex selection in an in vitro fertilization of test tube
babies, the regular successful rate is not higher than 50%. We had better do not
trust other non-high-tech protocols or old wives’ tale. You can always dream about
the sex of your future baby, but you still have to leave the sex to be decided by
natural selection.
In adult life, men have much higher chances to terminate their lives earlier than
women. These chances include wars, accidents, adventures, social conflicts and
medical conditions. The life expectancy of men is a lot lower than women in either
developing countries or developed countries. When all of these factors counted, the
men and women populations reach a balance in the world. The chart shows the exact
ratios between men and women at different life time points as follows.
5.5 Did you KNOW…?
|
- "MOM - Did you know that.."
● If you know exactly the day of the
ovulation and your "fertility window", you can boost the
chance to getting pregnant from 25% to 80% or more?
● You can always learn and practice how to determine the best three
days of your fertility window to increase the qualities of
your conception to have healthier and smarter baby. You may
choose either a thermometer or a luteinizing hormone (LH)
detector to find out your ovulation day monthly.
● A prospective chart and a retrospective chart are offered for your
conveniences to help you to practice and find out your ovulation
day, in order to facilitate a suitable and higher chance of
conception.
● Both of you will work together by following the
instructions in this Chapter to make an Olympic Pentathlon
Champion baby who will be expected as the one with healthiest
physical condition and highest intelligent qualities as
possible.
● Don't hop up and run to the bathroom right after
you make love! Lying down for at least a few minutes (some
fertility experts say five minutes) after intercourse
increases the odds that the sperm will be able to keep their
date with the awaiting egg and that you'll win at baby roulette.
● Stress significantly reduced the probability of conception each day during the fertile window,
possibly exerting its effect through the sympathetic medullar pathway.
● ZERO ALCOHOL!! There is some evidence suggesting that
marijuana, drugs and alcohol can result in abnormal fetal
development and increased cancer risk for the next generation.

|
- "DAD - Did you know that.."
● If you, as future DAD, want a healthy and intelligent baby, you must
give up alcohol at least 90 day before to start the conception, in order
to guarantee your best sperm count and your best quality of your
spermatozoa? This is because it takes sperm cells three months to mature to
the point at which they're capable of fertilizing an egg.
● You may want to hold your sexual intercourse for a while before the well
planned month to have millions of higher number sperm cells with maximum
qualities for the specific fertility windows of the prospective mom.
● As a prospective father, you and your partner must give up alcohol, smoking,
junk foods, and any other habits that may harm your baby for at least 90 days,
before your time of conception.
● It is not a good idea to have sex regularly before your fertility window. It is
obvious that 800 million sperm cells with better qualities will be much better
than 50 million sperm cells with less better qualities, for a goal to have an
Olympic champion. This actually means that a race winner selected out of 800
million cells would be simply better than the one selected from just 50 million
cells, and the answer is quite clear.
● ZERO ALCOHOL!! There is some evidence suggesting that heavy snuff,
marijuana, and alcohol can damage the DNA of sperm, which can result
in abnormal fetal development and increased cancer risk for the next
generation.
